7 Colored Earth – Mauritius

Mauritius is located about 40 minutes by air travel to the northeast of Reunion. It is also said to be volcanic region. The volcanoes are dead long time back as the tectonic plate carrying the islands has moved away which shifted the so called "hot spot" from beneath Mauritius to beneath Reunion a long time ago.

The absence of coral reef in the places allows recognizing the volcanic past. The coasts are washed away by the ocean tides and currents. Only a few of such spots can be seen.

Chamarel Falls is one of the wonder in the spectacular Mauritius. Here we can find many people sitting together spending hours watching the beauty of the natural falls which gush and flow from the past.

Besides the falls there are rocky beds that are covered with colorful landmasses.

These unique landmasses were the results of the volcanic eruption.
