Bhangarh: The most haunted place in India

Bhangarh is a place in the Rajasthan state of India. It is on the way from Jaipur to Alwar. It is a place where nobody dates to stay after sunset. This city was established by Kin Akbar’s General Raja Man Singh younger brother Madho Singh in 1631.

The local residents of the city said that it is due to the swearword the whole town was emptied overnight. And according to the story of the swearword if the town was ever rediscovered in the future the settlement would not have been found and only temples would show up.

This seems to be true since only temples dot the landscape and even in the mountains only shrines can be seen. It is also said that nobody returned back from there that have stayed after dark.

As per the government rule an office of archaeological survey of India has to be set up there. But even the government authorities have a fear to set up an office there. They have opened an office about 1km away from the ruins of Bhangarh. And they have put a signboard at the city saying that “staying after sunset is strictly prohibited in this area”.

People who have visited this place in the interest of tourism say that there is some strange feeling in the city that creates an atmosphere of anxiety and restlessness.

The story of the city goes like this. In the city there was a beautiful princess named Ratnawati. At the age of 18 she started to get the marriage offers from other states. In the same regions lived a magician named Singhia who used to do black magic. He was in love with princess and he knew that the king will not allow him even to see the princess.

One day the magician saw princess maid in the market buying scented oil for the princess. He thought of a wicked plan and used his black magic and spells something on the oil. So when the touch the oil it would cause hypnotize and she would walk immediately to him and satisfy him in all the respects. But when the princess got the oil she threw it on a stone as she had noticed the magician eying the oil.

As soon the oil touched the stone, the stone went rolling to the magician and crushed him. While dying the magician has cursed the palace that some incident will happen which will kill everybody in the palace and their souls will remain here without rebirth for many centuries. In the following year a battle took place between Bhangarh and Ajabgarh and everyone including the princess died the battle.

It is also said that the prime minister cursed Bhangarh that no one would settle here in the future and anyone who dated to live here will die. The local villagers said that whenever they try to build a house there the roof of the house seems to be collapsed. All the houses at the city are without a roof and even the closet village where people are living still build their house roof with straw and not with bricks.
